Research project

Transpersonal-spiritual BMGIM experiences and the Process of Surrender -
Developing new understanding through theories of intersubjectivity and change factors in psychotherapy.

Research questions:

  1. Can the categories of analysis identified in a pilot study (Mårtenson Blom, 2010) be useful in developing a new understanding of transpersonal and spiritual GIM experiences and their transforming power? If yes, in what ways?
  2. How are the relational modes that constitute shared lived experience/ intersubjectivity expressed and described in the transcripts of GIM sessions?

The project is developed within a pragmatic and constructivist paradigm, with a qualitative research design, using a hermeneutic-phenomenological methodology and the following methods:
Data collection through session transcripts (n=38), focusgroup interviews (n=2), and collaborative interviews (n=4), .
Data analysis through hermeneutic methodology and thematic analysis.

Professional background

My professional background is as psychologist and psychotherapist within child and adolescent psychiatry for 20 years and in private practice for 15 years. Since 1992, I am engaged as teacher and supervisor in in different psychotherapy thraining programs in Stockholm: family therapy, individual psychodynamic therapy and BMGIM.

Professional experiences leading my intentions into researchs
In my work as psychotherapist, the following issues have always caught my interest:
-to revalue the perspective on the Self developing in relation from the viewpoint of womens psychology.
-to explore and understand change in psychotherapy.
-to be informed by the ”clients” perspective, or rather the collaborative alliance between therapist and client.
-to understand and explore the importance of the implicit domain of interaction and communication.
-to understand musics importance in the development of mental and spiritual health.
