Internal rules of the Ph.d.-program in Music Therapy

These rules are a supplement to the set of general rules for all Phd-programs of the humanistic faculty of Aalborg University. (For half time students: read two semesters instead of one).

1. It is recommended that every initial proposal (IP) should be considered by selected, relevant members of the PhD Advisory Board before they are sent to the Head of Department and the faculty of Humanities. Specialist advisors can be consulted in the case of project proposals outside the area of specialism of the advisory board members.

2. The Head of the doctoral programme provides the necessary guidelines in English and will advise the applicants on entry criteria.

3. The Faculty appoints an internal supervisor for each student's first semester of studies. This supervisor is primarily connected to the final formulation of the project, to the time planning and to the writing of an elaborate proposal (EP), which should be formulated (in english) by the end of the first semester.

4. This elaborate proposal will be examined by selected, relevant members of the PhD Advisory Board and accepted by a majority.

5. After the acceptance of the extended proposal, a main supervisor will be appointed for the rest of the study.

6. The appointed supervisor may decide to end his/her engagement, if necessary.
